ISIRKA events are gatherings rooted in memory, music, and community — spaces where Somali cultural heritage is honored with the care and intention it deserves. From intimate listening sessions to community celebrations, each gathering creates space for the kinds of intergenerational conversations that remind us who we are and where we come from. These are not just events — they are acts of cultural preservation, held together by community and joy.
PAST EVENTS
Somali Soul: For the Ladies That Came Before Us January 31, 2026 — Boston, MA An evening honoring the legendary Somali female singers of the 1970s and 80s, Somali Soul brought the community together through music, storytelling, and shared memory — celebrating the women of Hoballada Waaberi whose voices defined a generation and shaped the golden era of Somali music. The night wove together archival recordings, intimate conversation, and collective listening into a living tapestry of intergenerational connection. It was ISIRKA’s first signature event — and a reminder of what becomes possible when a community gathers to honor its own.
